Default NL100: AKs - top pair no good???

Villain is 27/12/1.4 over 50 hands. No other reads.

I think flop is a raise. I had had a couple of horrible beats (and was tilting a little) in the last hour and was going to leave when the blind came back around and decided I would only play a premium hand and this hand came up. Is this a push or fold?

If you're calling the flop, then why wouldn't you call the turn? The 4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] changed nothing, unless you somehow put him on 2 spades, which I don't.

I agree that the flop is probably a raise, because you don't really want to see the turn or river with such a draw heavy board.

As played, I think you cold call the turn and hope the river blanks. You do have position after all, and will get to see what he does after the river peels off.

What would you raise the flop to?

I did not put him on 2 spades but I did not know if a call or shove would be better on the turn. If the river blanks what size river bet would you call?

I have no problem with how you played this. The turn is a fold. Leading into a PF 3bet twice is a big hand. You're only beating KQ and QQ, and they're likely not playing those hands this strongly often enough for a call/raise to be +EV.

Raise the flop to 35, fold to a shove/reraise. If he calls check behind on the turn or fold to another bet. Call up to a 1/2 bet on the river or check behind.

Raise a little more pre-flop. I sometimes just call here too.

I think you played it fine postflop.

I understand that completely. I posted these 5 hands this morning and have previously posted 3 to 4 more hands. Most of my responses have been to beginner questions and I have only posted a few responses (10-15) on other hands. I agree everyone needs to participate and I am trying to do better at this. In the past I would read responses and not necessarily post my thoughts because I seemed to be way off from the common responses and I had seen people ridiculing others and was not interested in being treated like that. I do not see why we cannot give/receive responses in a respectful manner.

I am trying to do better about giving input. If you are not interested in participating on my threads, I understand.
