Sniper:

I don't want to put out my ideas yet...I would rather hear random ideas...I will post them at some point though.

I couldn't do anything that is too monotonous (accounting, stuffing envelopes, assembly line..etc)...I am focused when doing something creative and/or mentally difficult...

I inhereted 100k about ten years ago and invested it....it is 300k (after tax) today.

Further from the truth as many are prediction the current 4500 an acre for Iowa farmland to reach 8,000-10,000 in the next 3-6 years. Personally, I don't see a top out until at least the 6,200 range. Remember, one is making money renting this land out for farming as the land values increase. Iowa farmland will be a good investmest for the next 8-12 months at least, but time is getting short to get in on this fantastic market.

You sound like a South Florida realtor from a year ago, or a stock broker in 1999. Stop polluting every thread trying to get some 2+2'r to bail you out from your investing mistakes.

moderators, plz consider whether this guy is ban-worthy, or at least * worthy.

So you're smart but suck at people skills?

"if I am interested in something I work faster and more efficently than the vast majority of people, I just have to be suffiently mentally stimulated."

You need to be motivated too?

And you want to run your own business?

I know OP, he does not suck socially. He is slightly introverted when he doesn't know people. He does, however, know how to work around most social situations if needed.

I'd say that he MUST be motivated in order to succeed. The suggestion about getting a PhD earlier in the thread would be the exact opposite of what he wants to do.

Successful business models (even risky/high reward) ones would probably be the most enticing for OP.

How does one pursue trading? I am in a similar position as the OP and am interested in the profession but don't know where to start.

Right now my thinking is this: 1) Get hired by a hedge fund 2) Work some low-level position while learning the ropes 3) Become a trader.

Will it work?
