I\'m a little confused head\'s up in a ring game vs. tournament.
When playing head's-up with deep stacks should you at least call on the button with any two cards? I'm asking in the context of Concept No. 56 in NLHTAP and HOH's Head's up strategy in End Game,Vol 2.
Is the HOH strategy only right because of low M's? And what's the best approach to this hand? Re: I\'m a little confused head\'s up in a ring game vs. tournament.
This is really a HU question and doesn't have much anything to do with tourny/cash. With deep stacks there is not much difference either. M doesn't apply in your situation or cash games in general because you should reload anyways.

I raise the river on that hand btw. Two pair is an extremely strong hand HU, if he shoves or re-raises you you can fold to his set/flush easily. You will get called with weaker 2 pairs, top pair, etc.

Re: I\'m a little confused head\'s up in a ring game vs. tournament.
I guess my question is a little confusting, even for me. Say I had 3-2 instead of K-7 on the button/small blind.(the hand doesn't matter) should I call preflop, even though my opponent folds say bottom 70& of his hands? Now If i hit two pair, great, but is it more likely that my opponent would have an even stronger hand? IF the opponent grinds it out with a big stack, he can lose a lot of blinds for a relatively cheap price.
At the end of a tournament this is not the case. If you can last ten rounds. . . well you can't wait for a big pocket pair. you have to push percentages and take the preflop pott odds when they are favorable. Is it better to be more patient in cash games and even fold some hands on the button/small blind? |
