Default This is completely standard, right? 3 dollar rebuy on stars

I generally play ring games, but I'm trying to "sharpen up" my MTT skills. I am not used to playing full ring (i play strictly 6max), so sometimes I get a little lost.

Villain has been pretty quiet and not gotten out of line.

Push city. THe money is going in 85% sure. Push / fold.

Villain is in the UTG; could indicate a monster. AA / KK / AK / QQ. Or it's a UTG steal.

4xBB from UTG is a weird bet by him.
If he has been pretty quiet and not gotten out of line then I dont think I'd push him here, his range from utg might be too tight for your 9s.

It depends! Seriously!

What range of hands do you think the UTG player would make this play with? [AA], [KK], [QQ], [JJ], [TT], {AK], & maybe [As with Q,J, or T] or [KQs].
Generally, a player that doesn't get out of line, has you crushed or you're only a slight favorite on a coin flip.

Do you really want to double up a player, that plays premium hands? You might knock him out, but you could make him a contender (with T50,000+ chips). [9,9] is the bottom end of the playing zone. It's a reasonable hand to see a flop with but 'all-in' is asking for trouble. If cards come out above [9] and you face significant action, you can fold for T6400 pre-flop investment. Why put in the extra T20,000 on a coin-flip gamble?

I dont like this. Hes committing 1/5th of his stack from utg, so I think he is probably felting it when you reraise allin. His rang for utg raising crushes yours unless you got some reads that hes looser than normal, but without those Id fold because you are probably at best flipping.

edit: I probably just call and see the flop and if its favorable then put him in maybe. I didnt mean fold preflop just dont push.

You say UTG has been pretty quiet. I'd fold this.

If his range is 44-AA plus any subset of the unpaired hands you're racing against, you're about 50% against his range (44-88 is as likely as TT-AA). Assuming he always calls, you're racing for his stack plus $3k in dead money. If his range is actually narrower than this, or if the blinds ever wake up with a hand, you're probably losing chips in the long run. You need fold equity to make money here, and I don't see too many people in low buyin tournaments raising 4xBB from UTG and then folding to one reraiser.

OTOH, if he's been running over the table, go ahead and push.

What's a favorable flop? Stacks aren't deep enough to play this for a set, and he acts first after the flop. He's very likely cbetting most/all flops. Calling sounds like a good way to set ourselves up for a tough decision on a Q or J high flop. If we're calling cbets on all but the most unfavorable flops, we're probably better off pushing preflop and getting some fold equity if his range includes hands like AJ or KQ. Or, just fold preflop for the reasons I explained in my other post.

Tight player raising UTG, most of the time you are at best flipping a coin, at worst you have 2 outs.
