It is that one comment that makes it clear that your understanding of the game of poker is small (non existant). It's common amongst new people so don't fret it.

Here is a suggestion.

Don't worry about finding coaches and software etc etc etc.

Play limit to start with.

Buy Getting Started in Hold em by Ed Miller. Read it and reread it again.

But Small Stakes Hold em by Ed Miller. Read it and reread it again.

Open an account on Pokerstars (they do not offer rakeback so you won't miss out here).

Buy Pokertracker.

Play some low limit games (0.25/0.50) and play 1,000 hands. See how you do. See if you enjoy it.

Read hands and advice in the micro/limit small stakes forum. See how you go for 20,000 hands. Move up as you see fit and when you are comfortable.

If you enjoy the game etc then you can worry about bankroll, coaching, rakeback and the like.

A couple of other things.

Do not be embarrassed to play low limits to start.

Do not be ashamed if you are playing BicycleKick at 400/800 at the commerce within 3 weeks.

Do not envy the people that are making $20,294,024 a week playing holdem.

Good Luck.

i bet you have pipe dreams of making tons of money right away... only a special few people and asians are capable of doing this. go ahead and keep saving and play the game for fun, but try to work your way up by starting small. jumping in with 14k is retarded.

merely advertised I had a bank roll of $14000 to indicate I do not need to play at the micro limits

You are obviously not listening to the good advice others have already given you.

Have fun pissing away $13,500 before you realize the error of your ways and start out at $0.5/$1 like you should have.

(FWIW, sooo much of this guy screams 'troll'.)

put $13,300 in a high inteest bank account.
Deposit $500 in pokerstars and start playing $0.02/0.05, log all your hands
Buy poker tracker
Buy a poker library and re-read it.

People say you have to pay to learn poker.. you have to donate your money in cash games to learn from better players. I think this is just wrong if you start in the right place.

I know everyone wants him to start at .50/1.00 Since he has the bankroll why not start at $2/4 after doing the reading.
Is the play that much different at .50/1.00 than 2/4?

I would suggest starting at small stakes, wether limit or no limit is your game, but 2k should be enough to handle any variance you see at .5/1 games and various expenses. The reason I say small stakes and not micro is that micro tends to be really really poor play and you might develop some bad characteristics trying to beat it, its best to have opponents who at the least, are at the tables to win (despite how poorly they do it). A 2001fp was suggested earlier, and I agree with it because, 1. its easy on the eyes, 2. its useful for everything, and 3. 3-4 tabling is minimal for any serious online player.

Other than that, read up and study your play.

Edit: POKER TRACKER

Shazzy,

I wouldnt get a coach till I was winning at the micro limits, that's just me. the early part of the learning curve is so steep cause it's all new info and you will have TONS to learn and develop, that you dont need the subtle stuff a coach will mention till later.
