Comparing laptops and stationary
How much better/worse is a stationary Dual Core 2 processor than a portable one?
How much better/worse is 1 GB of stationay RAM than portable SODIMM RAM? Are there any other, if any differences, when all the numbers look the same? (1 GB != 1GB ?) I'm having a hard time deciding between a portable and a stationary computer. |

Re: Comparing laptops and stationary
Desktop computers are generally cheaper for the same level of performance as a laptop. They are also less expensive to repair since parts are cheaper. Even if you have the same processor and memory a laptop will tend to run slower when it's not plugged in because of power saving features. If you don't need to take the computer with a lot there isn't much reason to get one.
