You are way ahead of his range, why would you want to stop n go?

because about 2/3rds of the time (when villain misses) it'll increase your fold equity.

villain is getting correct odds to call this push preflop with anything he has. i don't like showdowns, 'cause you're a big chance of losing with 88 (off the top of my head, you would be very close to 50% vs his range, i assume - some villains will fold underpairs, but none will fold overpairs, compensating for the times when you have villain dominated when he holds A7 or something similar).

If neither of villains' cards hit (as is likely to happen 2/3 of the time) the board, villain will be making a mistake to call.

incidentally, it gives you an opportunity to check/fold if the board comes AKQ.

i would be happy with villain folding and avoiding a showdown, i think. i think the best way to play here is to maximise fold equity.

Well, obviously I know why you use stop n goes. I just don't understand why, when 88 will crush a button's opening range, that you want to create more FE or give him a chance to play more correctly on the flop.

As what Devin said plus BB may call behind leaving you with it 3-way and morer likely that either villian cathes the flop. 4/9 both will miss which is not as nice as 2/3.

think folding isnt wrong, if he dont got smaller pocket, we have in best case a coinflip,i would not love to push to get a conflip for half of my health stack...

as somebody said, it might also be an invitation to push rather than a steal try...

but perhaps that is wrong/nitty...

I am not sure if this is an easy push, the button is obviously calling a shove here because he raised 1/4 of his stack committing himself. There are a couple short stacks here and your stack at 24bbs is pretty valuable... I am not sure though i could be way off on this one

[/ QUOTE ]

Lots of villian's fold after committing a 1/4 or more of their stack. I don't think we need FE to make this play profitable anyway.

Good point, so we can come to the conclusion that a push is fine, and a fold is fine?
