I have the breakeven at 43% of hands. If you think he's pushing more, and it appears you do, call. I think a call is good here as well, but as always, reads help.

[ QUOTE ] i fold this. i would call with A9+, 66+. [/ QUOTE ] way to nitty [/ QUOTE ] probly, but i think i like my chances of picking up the blinds from the player sitting out. also, 5+.50 is not a turbo, correct? too much time left in this one to risk half your chips on a 60/40. |

Thanks for the input Dave, I agree A9+ and 66+ seems like a pretty safe range - prolly >2:1 versus the random range.
FWIW, in the actual hand I called, Villain had Q9o and won. 2 hands later I pushed KJ into AQ and busted.... standard I still wonder about this tho: even if we know that Villain has Q9 and we are 60/40 or so... do we call or not? (assuming we are at least equal in skill to the rest of the table) |

To those that think they have a significant enough of a skill edge here to pass on a +1.8% EV call (if he's pushing any two), how much of an edge to you think you have?
How many bigger edges do you expect to find later? If you are passing on these edges, what is your skill edge and how are you quantifying it? How does it being a turbo effect the EV of this hand? If he has Q9o, this call would be +2.4% $EV. Significant! If you are calling with 66+, A9+ then it looks like you need a minimum edge of like 3.0% here? Do you realize how much money this means you are leaving on the table by passing on all those other +$EV calls you are missing? I'll give you a hint, it far and away exceeds the EV you have in waiting for better spots. Edit: Playing with SNGPT, I find that Q9o becomes the bottom of the Qx range at about 40% of hands. 22+,A2+,K2+,Q9o+,Q5s+,JTo,J8s+,T9s. So, even if this is at the bottom of his range this call is only -0.2% $EV. However, that was not the read OP gave us. |

if the player to my left is sitting out i am going to get some 100% ev spots. that's significantly better than 2.4%

The guy sitting out must have had a slow connection or something like that.... he resonded really slow for a while and then was gone / sat out - so it is safe to assume that he was going to be blinded off before he got back.
The Guy sitting out being the BB when I am the SB was actually a disadvantage, sicne the pot was always raised by the time it got to my SB, so I never got a chance to steal the BB and didnt pick up a hand to push / call AI myself |

if you look at it from the villain's point of view, he knows he can shove any 2 any of the next 3 hands. he actually would have more fe if he shoved the next hand instead of this one. that might tighten up his range in this hand.
