What is a \"squeeze\"?
This guy reraise preflop with a bad hand and called it a squeeze in the MSNL Forum. Could someone detail what exactly a squeeze is?

Re: What is a \"squeeze\"?
The term used by Dan Harrington (though not sure who first used it) is a type of play used in No Limit.
If you find a player is raising with medium strength hands and other players are calling (in position) also with medium strength hands a play you can make is to raise a large amount (all-in if the blinds warrent)with any two cards. The original raiser has a very tough decision because he has to worry not only about your hand but anyone who may have called after him. you essentially "squeeze" him out of the pot. |

Re: What is a \"squeeze\"?
A squeeze goes like this:
1. You are playing with people who are somewhat aware of poker strategy and can lay down hands PF 2. A loose raiser opens 3. A second player calls this raise, and could reasonably be doing so with a weak hand because the second player knows the initial raiser has been raising loose 4. You have an unplayable hand (if you have a playable hand, you should play it rather than trying to pull a move) 5. You stick in a large raise 6. Loose player folds because he has a weak hand and has does not want to play an expensive pot 7. Second player folds because he intended to get in the hand in position cheaply against a loose player, not play out of position against a display of obvious strength. 8. Profit. |
