Planet Hollywood Hotel?
I'm heading to LV tomorrow morning for the weekend. My friend and I have a free room at Planet Hollywood. Has anyone been there? I'm looking for any opinions about the place as a whole (restaurants, bars, etc...), but especially the poker room.
I'm arriving about 6 hours before my buddy and plan to play a session of 1/2nl there while i'm waiting. I appreciate any feedback... |

[/ QUOTE ] I had been to the aladdin which is what it was before they changed to planet hollywood. In my opinion I found the place boring and the poker room empty. I think the lack of traffic had to do with the fact you had to enter the hotel/casino via the garage underground. Very poor design. |

Re: Planet Hollywood Hotel?
Don't know that this helps but I got married there.
The Grinder is now the poker host for Planet Ho. Small room looking to get bigger I guess. |

Commander's Palace is a great place for a nice meal. Not quite as good as the one in New Orleans, but still tasty.

Re: Planet Hollywood Hotel?
I have read very favourable reviews on the remodelled PH Hotel, and especially the poker room.
The daily tournaments are amongst the very best low buy-in events in town now, in terms of structure. Tables have no autoshufflers however, which is a show-stopper for me. |

WOW------
The Grinder...... I have to rush right out now to go play there. Maybe he can do what DN could not do for the Wynn. |

Supposedly, it is "moving" but no new location has been announced AFAIK. I have played at the new PH room once, and will not be returning. Problematic Parking, lack of autoshufflers, and low min/max on their NL game are the basic reasons. Nice room, though. |

Re: Planet Hollywood Hotel?
I played at PH just last week, but I did not stay there. The new room is much nicer than it was when the casino was Aladdin. The Aladdin room was isolated, run-down, and bare. This one has a new, modern look to it, with plenty of room between tables. It is open on all sides, and so there is the opportunity for curious tourists to wander in and take a chance at poker. Also, the front of the room is near the Strip entrance to the casino, and so during the day, you even can see a little daylight every so often. The only negatives that I noted were the lack of TVs in the room (if that is something that matters to you) and no automatic card shufflers (if my recollection is correct, but I could be wrong on the latter point).
I only played there one afternoon session, and so this is hardly a scientific survey. Having said that, the dealers were competent and friendly. I played 1/2 NL. The max buy-in was $200. I did not think that the competition was too tough. It included a fair number of players who would buy-in for $100, bust, and then either re-buy or leave to be replaced by a similar player. I doubled up in less than 3 hours, and I never felt that my chips were at risk. When I played, I happen to meet and sit next to people_mover, another 2+2er. He posted a trip report within the last few days, and so you might want to look it up and read it. While I was there, he was up over $1,500, and so I suspect he thinks the competition was soft, too. Also, he mentioned in his report that scored a pretty sweet complimentary room upgrade using the $20 trick at check-in. Good luck and have fun. I wish I were still there. |
