Charlie Ward won the Heisman and is in the College Football Hall of Fame. Could he have had an NFL career to complement his NBA career? [/ QUOTE ] Yeah but he isn't a star in basketball. |

Re: Will there be another two-sport star?
Iverson played against Aaron Brooks in High School and was far an away the better QB. He is about Vick's height although weighs much less being a basketball player. If he went the football route he may have been a QB and could have easily made a career at WR. How successful he would have been we will never know. I read an article by Iverson on espn.com a few years ago. He wrote about his high school football career and that he loved football and still does more than basketball. He was also all state DB safety.

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] What would Iverson have done in the NFL? WR, CB, RB? KR? [/ QUOTE ] Iverson is apparently the best high school QB in Virginia history, and that includes Michael Vick. [/ QUOTE ] I'm aware of his high school exploits, but he's 5-11 and had no future as a QB. [/ QUOTE ] I don't have both their stats, but I think Ronald Curry was a much better HS QB (also in Virginia). Three consecutive state titles, and I think he has (had?) several state records. National player of the year in both basketball and football his SR yr. Although it's probably hard to compare since Iverson didn't play his SR yr Also, does anyone think Julius Peppers could make an NBA roster? |

Someone here have the latest issue of ESPN the Magazine? There's a very short blurb there about a guy who played in two major sports, though I've never heard of him. Hopefully, I'll remember to check the issue when I get home. [/ QUOTE ] Here he is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Hendrickson Not exactly a two-sport "star", but he did play in the NBA and is currently an MLB pitcher. |

Money or not there will likely never be a talent like Bo in two sports. Say what you want about Deon but he wasn't much in baseball. [/ QUOTE ] Deion had an MLB solid '92 and '94. He was a legit two sport athlete. |

[/ QUOTE ] he's a scrub in each league - and there's no evidence to suggest hendrickson would've been a good major league pitcher even without his NBA career, because he doesn't throw hard. also he never played in both sports at the same time. i guess i should've specified that. |
