Re: The Greatest Concert You’ve Ever Seen (long)
Brusce Springsteen
Orange Bowl 1985 I think. It was the one and only time I giggled like a little school girl when the band took the stage. He rocked the house for close to 4 hours. Awesome |

Re: The Greatest Concert You’ve Ever Seen (long)
1) Tibetan Freedom Concert - Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine - Alpine Valley, Wisconsin. 1999
2) The Urge - maybe 15 times? I don't know. This was the greatest live band I've ever seen. If you don't know them, check out their first album, Receiving the Gift of Flavor. It's classic. IMO, their other stuff was not nearly as good. Later, KG |

15 acts, 11 hours, 450,000. The Stones ACDC Rush The Guess Who Isley Brothers Blue Rodeo Sam Roberts The Stones were actually a letdown after AC/DC stole the show. A close second is seeing the Tragically Hip In Violet Light release show with 70 other people at the Q107 headquarters. Third would be Kfar Muzika in Israel, a monthlong festival of Israeli music, Hadag nachash was good as was Teapacks. |

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Brusce Springsteen & the E-Street Band, The Stone Pony, Asbury Park, NJ., 1976. Wow, just wow. 4 1/2 hours with a couple of breaks...ten feet away. Amazing. I was 13. [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Oh yeah, I almost forgot: I also got to see Pink Floyd do "The Wall" in London...that was pretty amazing. [/ QUOTE ] Wow...green with envy [/ QUOTE ] I also am green with envy! Dominic, I salute you! Great list! My favorite shows: Cheap Trick: I have seen them several times and they are always great! The best show was at Alpine Valley, WI, from the 3rd row! We only had general admission grass seats but my wife's friend who was with us, and worked there, got us up to the front. It was great! Others: Todd Rundgren/Utopia: several shows in the mid-late 70's Eagles: Cincinnati late 70's Kansas: 1980-something Rush: mid 80's Van Halen: David Lee Roth era Billy Joel: early 80's Journey: Milwaukee, Summerfest, early 80's Brian Setzer Orchestra: Las Vegas HOB, 2000?? Most Dissapointing show: Boston: Alpine Valley, WI, Late 80's. I LOVED Boston when I was in HS and hadn't had the chance to see them and went to see them live finally. The sound system was total crap and you couldn't hear anything they were playing. It was too QUIET! What the hell is Rock & Roll if it's QUIET! It was a total waste of time and money and I even left early. |

Re: The Greatest Concert You’ve Ever Seen (long)
I get the feeling it might be coming up in June...
This thread reminded me to check the site for NEARFest, the annual north east progressive rock festival, to check when tickets go on sale. Well, after checking that, I decide to look at the bands list to see if they added anyone since I'd last been at the site. To my surprise, staring at me at the top of Sunday's lineup, headlining, none other than the great Keith Emerson. I was already pumped for Niacin and The Ozric Tentacles, and now they throw in my hero?! Made my month. Best show I've seen to date was The Musical Box covering Genesis' Lamb Lies Down on Broadway in it's entirety. The original shows of Genesis performing the album took place in the early 70's, before my time. I never thought I'd be able to catch my favorite album played live, but The Musical Box came through for me in a very big way. |
