Default Creating a poker bot

Over the past year, I've learned a lot about computers, programming specifically. Before that I used to play online poker and was profitable. Now I'm thinking of creating a bot, and have a couple of questions.

1) what are the legality issues surrounding this. I know that if you get caught the site will take your money, but can any criminal charges be brought against you.

2) Getting the data- How would one go about getting the data of how many players are in the hand, cards you have, if a raise was coming? If this could all be stored in a text file, it could be easily transfered into array's which would hold the data, and the strategies of defining if/then statements begins. This part I'll be able to do, it's getting the data, hitting fold, raise, etc which will be tough.

3) are bots easily detected by the poker sites? I imagine you could construct a program that is completely seperate of the software, all what would be needed is a signal of clicking the mouse.

Any advice would be appreciated

Why on earth would poker players help you create an illegal program to take their money?
