Can raising preflop be bad even with aces?

Against the entire field, yes you are a "dog", but everyone else is a 90% dog... hmm

So lets think about this...

me plus 5 limpers, my fair share is 1/6 (ie we all drew straws and the short straw wins (even dispursement (is that a word? LOL)))

My fair share is 1/6th, yet I win close to 1/2 the time.. please explain how I am a dog?

Hmmm, lets see ....

Its 9 handed so you will be contributing about 11% to the pot preflop.

Even if you dont play well post flop, and always play your hand to the river, it will hold up about 30% of the time.

Looks like an equity edge to me. Sure you will lose more often than you win against 8 opponents. However, the big pots that you win when your AA hold up will more than compensate for those times.

So its easy. RAISE !

(Oh, and Aussie made a good point, it would be +EV to raise any pocket pair in these circumstances, including 22 ! You are getting better than your 7.5:1 odds of making a set.)

Funny enough, you sometimes see NL players asking the same question. What would you do if it was the 1st hand of the WSOP and you had AA and everyone on your table went all-in to you in the BB.
