USA is in a downswing COMPARED to the greatest generation of American tennis ever after Andre retired. So of course, it's going to be on the downswing after all these tennis greats that usually come once in a lifetime. We still have two top 10 players which is more than any other country (besides Spain which has Nadal and Robredo). USA also has a great chance in winning Davis Cup this year.

Will we ever see another Pete, Andre, etc..or even Connors and Mcenroe? Most likely not, the world is also getting better. We have some solid young Americans like Donald Young and Sam Querrey. Querrey is just 18/19 and who I believe has just broken the top 50 or will at least by the end of this year. Young was the youngest junior to ever be ranked #1 (he's also sucking in the pros, so hopefully he'll come around).

These things come in cycles, tho nobody really does care about tennis, hopefully it'll come around. Also Andy Roddick is getting worse, youtube him when he was 19 years old killing a Pete Sampras.
