Default TD27: borderline first-round spots

Both players are awful in both hands. Opener is unlikely to be drawing three, but the coldcaller in hand 1 very well could be. These are hands that I often play when I feel a substantial late-round edge, but have been tightening up with recently as I rebuild. Mostly I want to make sure I'm not going too far.

Triple Draw 2-7 Lowball Limit ($5/$10) (converter)

SB ($1172), Seat 5
BB ($113.50), Seat 6
UTG ($191), Seat 1
MP ($120), Seat 2
CO ($138), Seat 3
Hero ($545), Seat 4

Button at Seat 4.
SB posts $2. BB posts $5.

Round 1: (1.40 SB)

Hand 1 I'm playing. I think calling and drawing 3, and calling and drawing 2 are both more profitable than folding.

Hand 2 I fold too.

If UTG draws 1 are we more inclined to draw 3 then? I think I'd draw 2 here almost every time if I played it. I think I'm more likely that not to play it but it's close.

hand 1 i think drawing 2 is okay.. but i dont fear 6s like most of you.

Hand 2 I fold unless im super stuck and trying to dig a really deep hole for myself.

Yeah, I think calling and drawing three is really bizarre here. I haven't started fearing sixes more, but I have started giving more respect to starting hands that already contain cap cards.

In any case, I realized shortly after these hands that I hadn't eaten in nineteen hours, so I'm not sorry to have folded them. I'm sure that was killing most of my edge, even though it was a great table.

I would have 3bet if there wasn't a coldcall in the first hand so I'm sure as [censored] not folding when someone else coldcalls. Since I can no longer isolate one tard I opt to call and see what happens.

Second hand I sorta want to play if we're in position. Even OOP I sort of want to play against these animals. If either player in the hand had any clue I'd fold pretty quick. I think their terribleness makes it closer than everyone thinks. I think a fold isn't bad but if there's one thing I like to do in poker it is to play pots against terrible players.

*edit*
Calling and drawing 3 in hand 1 is just awful. We're playing against two primates, our hand is bordering on premium against these dirty beasts.

Interesting.

I think hand 1 is a fold against solid opponents. You should be somewhat of a dog here and I'm not sure that positon + the blind money is enough to continue.

Hand 2 is tough and I think it depends on how much strength the 3-bet implies.

If you are against a better one card draw that's probably a fairly bad spot, especially considering 2's and 3's are probably dead.

On the other hand if the third guy is drawing two, presumably you are making money off him.

If both of them are drawing 2 I think that has to be fairly good for you, even though your cards are likely pretty dead.

If both of them are drawing 1 it's probably pretty terrible for you, but that's unlikely.

If it had been just between us and the initial raiser it would be an easy 3-bet.

FWIW SS/2 seems to imply that rough 1-card draws to an 8 should only be played in heads-up spots. I am not sure how well analysis supports that.

How do we feel about this one? Pretty much zero chance of an UTG fourbet. Button isn't good, but isn't awful for 3/6, and is probably drawing one.

Triple Draw 2-7 Lowball Limit ($3/$6) (converter)

SB ($71), Seat 1
Hero ($287), Seat 2
UTG ($165), Seat 3
MP ($74), Seat 4
CO ($390), Seat 5
Button ($111.50), Seat 6

Button at Seat 6.
SB posts $1. Hero posts $3.

Hand: [5c Jd Tc 6d 2s]

Round 1: (1.33 SB)

<font color="red">UTG raises. </font><font color="#666666">MP folds. </font><font color="green">CO calls. </font><font color="red">Button raises. </font><font color="#666666">SB folds. </font><font color="green">Hero calls. </font>

Easy muck. You're drawing rough, why put money in when you're behind and OOP? This would barely be a call if the Button had coldcalled.

lol are you serious? UTG raises, CO coldcalls and button coldcalls and you are "barely" playing 256? There are 7 small bets in the pot. 25XXX is an easy play here. If UTG raises and it folds to you in the BB and you are folding 256 then you are giving money away.

Seriously though, people at 3/6 are terrible so you won't make many mistakes here. The CO coldcall might add just enough to let you play I think but it's pretty close. Generally I only do 3 card wheel hands for 2 bets in the BB so the extra 2 bets probably lets us stretch our requirements a little.
