If you're running good yes. Unfortunately most of the time, you have 'marginal' hands and it's very easy to make large mistakes versus extremely unpredictable players. This probably is more of a bother in Tourney situations.

It seems to me that misleading screenname might make it difficult to judge how other people are perceiving you. For example, suppose you select a super-girly screenname or avatar, believing it will give you a tight/non-bluffing image. You then play several pots in a row, without showing down any hands. The question is, how will people perceive you? Some players will 'suss you out', a few others will believe the image and think you had a strong hand each time.
The point is, the screenname adds an extra variable to your table image, and makes it more difficult to know what that image is and adjust your play accordingly. Another advantageous factor for someone with an anonymous screenname is that they are harder to remember. Unless I'm taking notes, I'm much more likely to remember how slavery_lol played than John4709797892 played. |
