My First Trip Report (Cruise Casinos)
I know its long, but I tried
OK, this is my First Trip Report about ONLY the gambling that took place on a cruise I went on with my GF from May 18-27. Hope you enjoy, if not then flame away... I manage to avoid the casino the first few days, but Tuesday they had a $60 +rebuy No Limit Hold'em tournament that seemed like a good idea at the time. 35 players maximum allowed in it and they are paying top 5. I figure most people here suck and will be drunk so I can easily cash. This probably would have been true had it been run like an actual tournament instead of this. You get 2,000 chips and blinds start at 25/50, not the best but I guess I can make do starting with 40 BBs lol. So we play through the first level which lasted a whole 15 minutes. I'm up to about 2,500. Blinds are up and like I excpect 50/100. Play through the next 15 minutes, I drop down to 2,000 and they are raising them again. This time to 100/200. I'm thinking how could they run this tournament any worse? You only get like 7-8 hands dealt per level cuz the dealers suck at dealing and half the players are clueless so its a total luckfest because of the blinds. Melanie arrives from our room in this very cute dress she brought and seeing her cheered me up from this terrible decision of playing. She asks me how things are going and i reply I'm even, but that gives me only 10 BBs because this tournament is retarded and couldn't get any worse. DING! "Blinds are now 200/400!" Nevermind it just got worse, I now have 5 BBs. It seems logical having the blinds at 1/5 of your starting stack 45 minutes into the tournament, right? I eventually bust out shoving a weak suited ace all in and getting called by both blinds that happened to have AQ and 44, flop came out 774 so GG me. A couple of drinks made everything better though. I avoid the table games over the next couple days but Melanie falls in love with "Joker Poker", the video poker machine. She was only playing quarters and didnt lose too much and actually won a couple times. She developed this cute "Can I has a 5?" question every time she wanted to play some. I actually played some and hit 4 of a kind and won like 20 bucks off the one machine. This would be my only win on my own for quite some time. I was feeling kind of lucky and that proved false as I proceded to drop $60 to the roulette table. Oh well, no biggie, it happens. Reload $50 and damn its like I'm just lightning money on fire. I don't really care cuz I'm siked about the ilsands Status Report: Me -$150 Melanie: +$6 Next 2 days we are on the islands but we get back from ST Thomas early on Thursday and its roulette time. I cash in for $60 and Melanie is watching intenlty so I buy her in for $20 and she loses it pretty quick. I get up to $100 and come up with this "system". I bet $10 on the last color that came out and let her pick 5 numbers for $2 each. This proves effective as she hits 2 numbers and I end up leaving the table with $200 bringing me to -$50 for the trip after taking into account the $20 I gave her. I'm feeling good and we are both happy. Now here is the dreaded Friday from Hell. We hit the casino and drop $20 into one of those quarter pushing games and lose that because those games are rigged. Then decide its roulette time. My worst decision ever. I cash in for $60 with my good luck charm by my side. She hits a number right away and I have about $120 in front of me. I tell myself that this is good and I can't lose. Yeah, I was wrong. she goes cold on the numbers and I miss about 5 colors in a row. Bye bye money. I decide that I can just bet $60 on red and win it all back. That seemed like a logical theory until it landed on black and I was now down $120 for the day bringing me back to down $170 for the trip. Well I had $180 in my wallet and figured what the hell, even or bust! I cash it in and bet $80 on black, LOSER. $100 on red, winner!!! $100 on black. Ball rolls around lands in black and at the last second pops up and lands in red, LOSER! Put the last $100 on red and watch it land in 0. Wow, I'm down $350 and not too happy. No more casino for me. I have learned my lesson regarding roulette (lol, yeah if that was true this story would be over). Fast forward to Saturday afternoon. She really really wants to play roulette so I reluctantly go to the casino with her. She cashes in $40 and plays with her own money. She plays a bit more conservative than me because apparently she knows the value of a dollar and I don't. I get bored watching and take $100 out of the ATM, figurin eh, -$350, -$450 its all the same. I sit down at this Ultimate Texas Hold'em game which is very wierd but you get payed odds on your hands as long as you beat the dealers hand. You also have alot of control over your bet size afer you see your cards. I cash in $60. I go up and down and then get killed when I made a max bet with pocket 10s and hit a set. I would have been paid I think $100 on my initial bet but the dealer rivered a straight. GG me again. I soon continue my pattern and bust. I check on Melanie and suprise suprise, she has $45 in front of her. She decides to cash out of the table. I tell her the bad news and she gives me her chips and asks me to cash her out at the cage. I was like well let me buy that $40 from you cuz this would put me down $100 and done for the trip, $40 on red. She throws her $5 chip on red so of course it lands on red. I'm like damn is she a luck-box. I take the $80 to the cage and cash it out. I come back to give her the half thats hers and she has $20 in chips off of that $5. Go figure. She cashes out up $20. Status Report: Me: -$360 Melanie: +$25 We go see some shows and call it a night on the gambling. We have a few drinks cuz its the last night then we head up to the bar up top thats supposed to be open all night. Its closed. I look at the clock... 12:30 AM. Sounds reasonable. DING I remember the club behind the casino is open still. We head there and I down 2 Long Islands and a Double Jager Bomb in about half an hour in addition to drinking with her for the past 4-5 hours. I am gone. She is a bit less gone asks for her $20 to go play roulette (I was holding her moneys). I was like OK fine, but I am not playing. Fast Forward 5 minutes and I'm sitting next to her cashing in $40 again. She loses her $20 but I bounce around betwen $30-$60. During this time I make friends with the guy to my right because we are the 2 drunkest people in the casino and probably on the boat so this instantly makes us best friends for life. I proclaim that its time to kick it up a notch and bet $20 on red. He slaps me on the back and says I'm with you buddy and bets $10 on red. He also puts $2 on 14. I'm like whoa, thats my birthday and its red. Thats a sign. I quickly move $5 off of red and onto 14 and slap his back and tell him if hes with me, I'm with him. Two other people smile at us and throw $1 each on 14. We then procede to jump up and down and yell RED RED RED RED until the ball lands......... in 14! The whole table erupts. Me and this dude are high fiving each other and everyone else at the table. Ship $80 ($70+$10) profit to him and $190 profit to me ($175+$15). We now have a crowd assembled around the whole table because of our commotion. I have all the green chips at the table now, they are paying me in regular chips lol. It takes me about 3 wheel spins to sort out my stacks of green because I am soo drunk. When I finally do, I see my buddy betting $2 on 17 and $10 on black. I quickly match his $10 on black and throw $5 on 17. I try to convince everyone else playing at the table to put $1 on 17 with us. Most do! They spin the ball and we are chanting ONE MORE TIME! ONE MORE TIME! ONE MORE TIME! while jumping up and down again. Around and round it goes............ 17. The place goes absolutley crazy. High Fives, hugs, fist pumps, I think even a chest bump got thrown in there too. It was pandemonium. The pit boss is even over there smiling at what has just happened. Ship money to everyone at the table, the house is finally going down. We lose our next couple bets and I have to pee oh so bad. I hand Melanie 5 chips and say pick 5 numbers I gotta pee. I come back and shes laughing. I put $1 on 5 numbers and I won. Ship $30 more dollars to the good guy. This whole time she was taking my big value chips off the table so I wouldn't do anything stupid. I ask her how much she has, she shows me a black and 8 greens ($300 for the non-degenerate gamblers among us). I was like whoa so you got 300 and I got 20 40, um, how much is here? (yes I am that drunk at this point). She goes another $130. I push $100 towards here and play with the 30 and ended up losing it. I cash out $400, tip the dealer a red ($5), tip my buddy a red and shake his hand and thank him. He was like WHOA!!! did you just tip me? I was like hell yeah, you are the man. We head over to the cage and cash out $390 Final Tally: Melanie: +$5 Me: $-10 Yeah, doesn't look impressive, but it was one hell of a ride!

[/ QUOTE ] Only poker they had was 5/10 Fixed Limit with a 10% rake and the game hardly ever had more than 5-6 people except for 1 night. They ran that rebuy tournament again but I wanted no part of it. Sorry for the weak story, I'm new, I tried

i played that exact same tourney you mentioned first when i went on a cruise (except it was 36 players max and they had 12 to a table). i doubled early with 42o flopping 2 pair, added on, doubled with KJs v A8o (when by some miracle it folded to me on the button!), then basically folded till i picked up AJo and ran into AA. i final tabled though. made it to 1k/2k blinds...only had 7k though on the final hand. but everything you said was right. dealers werent great, whenever you were in the bb, the dealer at my table just assumed they were gong to check. was like "check?" kinda pushy...

[/ QUOTE ] We had 7 to a table and I was playing on a Table 4 (AKA: a converted Let it Ride table because they only had 1 poker table.)
