bet/check/bet

is my preferred line with strong aces on a dry A-high flop.

[/ QUOTE ]

although there are obvious situations where you should bet the turn

i'd say ~40% of the time

and they have 2 outs waaaaaaaaay more often than "3-5"

[/ QUOTE ]

So given the action described and the flop check, you don't think it's reasonable to put the villain on a hand like A5 drawing to 3 outs?

Didnt villain simply call a raise preflop and check the flop? Why should they have an ace? They might, but I sure wouldn't expect them to the majority of the time.

i dont think people open-limp A5 that often, but i rarely play tourney anymore, and the only ones i do are stuff like sunday mill/random 109s which aren't the best representation of what is standard (with the consideration that this is HSMTT and not regular MTT)

bet/check/bet and check/bet/bet and bet/bet/check are more or less equivalent on a dry ace high board. I think each is acceptable with a strong ace against any opponent who you aren't comfortable going bet/bet/bet against. Other than choosing to check when it's likely to induce a turn+river double barrel bluff, deciding which of the first three is better depends more on fitting in with how you've played other hands or how you'd like to play future hands than anything else, and in a lot of cases it probably doesn't matter.

Generally I think this question is more appropriate for medium-weak aces, where you'll usually be aiming at getting two bets in, and occasionally only one. Against more than half of opponents AK and AQ are strong enough to go bet/bet/bet, assuming you have a reasonably aggressive image.

I play mostly live and would definately bet the flop most of the time, however, one good argument for checking(in my experience) is that if a facecard hits, you will be able to get good value for your A. Don't know what you guys think of that, and if online play is totally different

I usually bet the flop in these situations. I usually don't slowplay on A high flops because people won't give you enough action if they catch midpair when an Ace is out there.

I'd check behind with weaker aces or if I had a read.

i usually bet these flops, since its pretty obvious you have a big hand with a PF reraise. depending on your image will greatly affect how you get played back at, but we all know this. bet/check/bet is what i tend to do with the idea that i am trying to induce a river cr bluff and get all the chips. this of course also allows you to get stacked by slow played sets, but this is where reads and player tendencies come into the total equation for a hand.

I never check AQ here cuz A5 goes broke on this board.

"bet/check/bet" and "bet/bet/bet" are all good. (Didn't we have enough discussion about betting/checking the turn from Kramer's WSOP mindset thread two weeks ago?)

I like bet/bet/bet better and probably do more of this.
