what's the point of buying in half at 5-10 vs playing full stacked 2-5, your risking the same amount of money but playing vs better players in most cases... this is top 5 most retarded threads I've read in the past year..

Whenever I move up stakes, I usually play halfstack for a few days to get a good feel for the game before I buy in full.

Forget about a LAG style, but there are advantages.

The regulars give you very little respect and make a lot of mistakes against you, like:

- calling you down with marginal holdings
- pot-commiting themselves against your stack in bad spots
- destroying their positional advantage against you by putting to much money in preflop/on the flop
- failing to adjust to lower implied odds

If you really know how to play good with 50 BB, I think it could be possible to make more money at 1000NL compared to full stack at 500 NL.

But if your goal is to improve as a pokerplayer, shortstacking over long time is a bad idea. Though I'm sure that a lot of 2+2'ers would benefit from shortstacking for a week or two.

If you are able to consistently beat 5/10 playing LAG with a half buyin than your a luckbox and should go play 100/200

Half buyin at 5/10 but you are really going to struggle playing laggish with 50BBs. It just doesn't work.

[/ QUOTE ]

if you are so good then keep playing until you have a large enough roll to sit with full buy ins, to maximize your value you need to have full buy ins.
