Re: 200NL, fold a straight?
Nope. You can fold this. I dont like the bet on the river there either against an unknown. People love to slowplay flushes. He is in the BB but still.

Re: 200NL, fold a straight?
I call. A hand like J9 is entirely possible. You need to be good like 35% of the time.

Re: 200NL, fold a straight?
Tough spot. I think a lot of donkey types will go apeshit if they have the J here. Problem is that you are readless. I definitely bet the turn because I don't want to give a free card to villain if he has any club. I would check the river however and call anything up to a pot sized bet. Betting again gives villain a chance to outplay us just like this.

Re: 200NL, fold a straight?
Are we not losing soooo much value from all his non straight or flush hands by checking behind on river? And what hands is he going to bet beside a straight or a flush. And there's no reason to think he ever bluffs here.

Not betting the river is a much bigger mistake than either calling and folding to his shove.

Re: 200NL, fold a straight?
I fold, PartyPoker notwithstanding. Maybe he has a J but you could easily have a flush here yourself so I doubt he's bluffing.
I don't see how checking the river is worse than betting and calling his raise. I'd rather check and call his value bet, than value bet and call/fold his shove. |

Re: 200NL, fold a straight?
"don't go broke in an unraised pot without the nuts", i've played quite a bit at 200nl on party poker and i think you are going to see a flush more often than not, I prefer a check call on the river

Re: 200NL, fold a straight?
I honestly think c/call is bad. He's generally not betting his 2pair type hands on river but will probably call a bet with them. I agree with EddieRoo.
But bet/fold is probably what I should of done. I think it could be close simply because a lot of villains could play a J like this. |
