Default 1/2 live: Broadway vs. two ace flop

I was playing live at home casino last night, game is 9 players, 1/2 blinds 2-40 spread limit (can't spread NL in state unless you are large casino). Game basically plays like nl.

Anyways here is the hand. I had been playing solid, picking up small pots and showing down good hands. Kid to my left was decent but not great, easy to read and had a nice rush an hour or so earlier. Plays pretty straight forward, nothing fancy.

I am dealt KQo on button, one limper in MP, I raise to 8, SB calls, MP folds. Flop: AAT. Villian checks, I bet 16, he calls. Turn J, he check/calls 28 this time. River 5, no flush possible. He almost immediately bets 40.

Hero?

I tend to regard quick action as an indication of truth; ie, that he is more likely to have what he's representing: the FH.

hmm. $40 into a ~100 pot. Looks like a vbet, afraid (correctly) you will check it through. Plus, he's easy to read, nontricky, straight fwd. You can fold.

Note: New to NL

Well the 40 was the max bet as it is a 2-40 spread
