Default Stoxpoker Videos won\'t play on my desktop

I'm having a very odd problem playing Stoxpoker members' videos. I can play all of them fine from my laptop. I can play SOME of them fine on my desktop.

I am attempting to play them by clicking the "download" link on the website. When they work properly, they start buffering in Windows Media Player, then start playing once the buffering is done. For one that doesn't work - it shows "buffering”, and when it gets to 100%, it starts playing – sound only, and for only about half a second. Then the buffering starts again, plays when it reaches 100% for half a second, and so on, and so on, until the download is about 90% done. Then it plays straight through, but again, audio only…black screen. Audio sounds perfect, but there is NO video.

I am running Windows XP Pro Version 2002 SP2, all updates installed; and Windows Media Player 11.

Anyone have any suggestions?

When you're using the download option on stoxpoker. You're suppose to RIGHT CLICK with your mouse (not just left click on that link like you do when you Watch it now...i.e. streaming) and then choose at location to save it (try your desktop for quick place). Then when the downloaded file is done...just go to your desktop or whereever you stored the downloaded file and the click on that file.

It scans for your DRM license and the play option in windows media players comes up in like 5 seconds..

hope this helps.

An excellent suggestion, can't believe I didn't think of it already. Unfortunately, no difference. Thanks though, because it's allowed me to get more information.

I've now downloaded 2 different videos, one that works and one that doesn't. They both go through the same DRM crap, and both play in Windows Media Player. Problem is, one is fine, and one has audio but no video. Tried them in Intervideo WinDVD with the same result, so it doesn't appear to be related to Media Player. It's not just the one video that causes me problems, it's at least half of them, probably more.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

I would be happy to test the ones you have problems with myself but I would be surprised if they did not work, but if you can catalog which DO work and which DONT ... maybe we can figure out if there is a difference in the rendering process for them...I *think* all videos do get rendered the same but maybe not...

Thanks, Stox...I actually have been emailing back and forth with your support. They are working on it, but came up empty initially, which is why posted here as well.

I haven't tried all of the videos, just about 20. Support has the list of which ones work and which ones don't; I certainly could send the list to you as well if you like. I suspect you're right, thought, that they will all work for you. They all work on my laptop.

Try this it worked for me at cardrunners. Bring up the 'File View Play Tools Help' menu.

Click on the Tools menu and go to Options which is at the bottom on the version I have. Click on the performance tab and turn down the video acceleration by half.

Hope it helps.

DING DING DING DING!!! We have a winner! Sorry though, no prizes. Just my heartfelt gratitude. THANKS!

That did it. I've played 4 videos so far that wouldn't work before, video works for all of them...regardless of whether they're downloaded to my computer or opened right off the web site.

Thanks again Civi!!!
