Shoving here accomplishes a lot of things. First, you take this down quite often. Second, you double up your share of times he does call. But, maybe most importantly against a villian like this, you slow down his stealing attempts. I'm not big on defending too much early, but when you have a real hand, you have to play strong, so you won't get picked apart by steals.

If you call here he is often going to bet regardless of the flop, so that means you can pretty much only stay in when you connect. Shove. |
