I'm not real knowledgeable about this kind of thing, but I'm sure someone here is. Would a 5 mbps connection be too slow for playing multiple tables on multiple sites? It's not a huge price difference to get a faster connection, but if I don't really need it for anything else, I'm curious whether it's a difference I'll notice while playing online poker.
Thanks. |

5Mbps is more than enough to multi-table across multiple sites. That speed is more than most people average worldwide and the bandwidth requirements of most online poker sites is rather small.
Higher speeds generally benefit people that do excessive downloading or media streaming as they are the most bandwidth intensive uses for the internet. |

Huh?, I thought it was the Rolling Stones band with(width) playing in the background that was required? I guess not!

I'm not that knowledgeable either, but until just recently I was using a dial-up connection with very few problems. I usually only play 2 or 3 tables at once, but I haven't had any problems doing that.

even 1mbps would be more than enough for poker.

A 5mbps is a *very* fast connection, and poker really doesn't use that much bandwidth at all. I'm sure you could 12-table just fine with a .5mbps connection (and yes I know the difference between megabits and megabytes)!

basically as long as your connection is not 'dial up' you're good to go

I'll bet a 14.4 modem would be more then adequate.
