Help: Indy 500
So I am in a sports decathalon contest where you pick winners for all different sporting events and add up the points at the end of the year.
I need to make picks for the Indy 500 and I know nothing about auto racing. Here are the rules.... I bow to you in the sports forum to help me make any reasonable selecetions.... There are 33 drivers entered in the race, each with a point total assigned to him based on pole position. You will need to select 5 drivers whose total points add up to at least 60 points. You will receive points based on the drivers finish (See below). POINT DISTRIBUTION 1st 150 points 2nd 125 3rd 115 4th 100 5th 90 6th 75 7th 70 8th 65 9th 60 10th 55 11th 50 12th 45 13th 40 14th 35 15th 30 16th 25 17th 20 18th 15 19th 10 20th 5 Beyond 20th gets 0 points. (The seeding is based on pole position) DRIVERS 1) Helio Castroneves 2) Tony Kanaan 3) Dario Franchitti 4) Scott Dixon 5) Sam Hornish Jr. 6) Dan Wheldon 7) Ryan Briscoe 8) Danica Patrick 9) Marco Andretti 10) Tomas Scheckter 11) Michael Andretti 12) Scott Sharp 13) Jeff Simmons 14) Ed Carpenter 15) Darren Manning 16) Buddy Rice 17) Kosuke Matsuura 18) A.J. Foyt IV 19) Vitor Meira 20) Davey Hamilton 21) Sarah Fisher 22) Buddy Lazier 23) Buddy Lazier 24) John Andretti 25) Al Unser Jr. 26) Alex Barron 27) Jon Herb 28) Jaques Lazier 29) Milka Duno 30) Marty Roth 31) Roberto Moreno 32) Richie Hearn 33) Phil Giebler Any help would be appriciated. |

Re: Help: Indy 500
Indy's pretty much a giant crapshoot, but I'd stick with Andretti (Michael Andretti, Kanaan, and Franchitti) and Penske (Hornish and Castroneves). They all seem like safe bets to at least finish high, and I have Kanaan winning the race. Good luck.

Re: Help: Indy 500
Have any really high seeds that you like? If I pick those three, I have to pick two guys that are starting in the 20's.

Re: Help: Indy 500
Ah, I misunderstood the question. In that case, this is what I'd do.
2. Tony Kanaan 6. Dan Wheldon 11. Michael Andretti 15. Darren Manning 28. Jacques Lazier Jacques is a must, I think. He was 5th fastest in final practice, and shouldn't do anything stupid during the race. |
