I did. Ran his range through pokerstove and am pretty confident it was the right play (with an 8% preflop raise %, I'm 57% against his range). I've just found I'm busting with AK more than any other hand and I'm trying to figure out if I'm overplaying it.

You should be busting with it more than any other hand given it's strength and how often you get it compared to pocket pairs. Now if you were busting with something like 75o more often than AK than there would be a problem.

So i was writing up my trip report from AC when i realized, wow, a lot of things happened and it would take a long time to write them out.

Also, im rarely sober enough to write and when i am, i remember that i really dont like writing.

Sorry people, you will not get a trip report. Be there next time so you dont have to miss out on all the fun.

Question regarding a tourney hand. This is from the 100k guaranteed on Stars tonight. There are 150 left with an average stack of just over 7k. Villain is a pretty damned tight (13/8 through 88 hands).

PokerStars Tournament, Big Blind is t300 with t15 antes (9 handed) Converter on pregopoker.com

UTG (t9806)
UTG+1 (t9657)
MP1 (t21871)
Hero (t4545)
MP3 (t7754)
CO (t7344)
Button (t549)
SB (t8406)
BB (t4970)

Preflop: Hero is in MP2 with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
<font color="gray">UTG folds</font>, <font color="gray">UTG+1 folds</font>, <font color="red">MP1 raises to t900</font>, Hero ???

Should I be calling this (seems like a poor choice given that it's 20% of my stack) or shoving?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm no MTT expert, but it's not an SNG - meaning even 50/50 confrontation is okay at this point in the tourney given the payout structure. And lots of tighter big stacks start opening up their raising range once the antes (albeit small antes) kick in, so you probably dominate a number of hands he has. Just push like everyone says - it is afterall a donkament...

I'd shove too, but mainly because with his 20k stack he may well call light, so he calls with AJs and AQ, maybe even ATs is in his calling range. So, you have less FE, but a better chance of doubling up, and that you have to do, coz you are getting short.
