Re: Official Champions League Final Thread.
Pathetic final but those scummy scousers got what they deserved. I still cant believe they got this far. I am just happy the match didnt end up 1-0 with that crummy goal because then this would have definitely gone down as worst final ever. Hardly any chances, and any good play. Glad i didnt go.
Kaka is some kind of religious freak, but imo definitely the best player this season world wide. Next year Marseille are going to take it with Ribery and Nasri at the helm... ALLEZ L'O.M. |

Re: Official Champions League Final Thread.
Anyone else notice the lack of a full injury time? They announced 3 minutes and stopped it around 2:40 into it, and that was after a full minute of Milan time-wasting. I doubt Liverpool would've scored in injury time but at least give them a chance in hell and let them play the correct amount of time.
Also, my last post was a bit too anti-Milan. Objectively speaking I think neither team played to their full potential. Milan were more below their usual quality than Liverpool were. Inzaghi's goal wasn't handball, it came off his chest and shoulder. Also I don't think it was a total fluke: yes it was flukey, but Inzaghi put his chest in the way of it, it didn't just hit him, so some props for that. The problem we've seen with Liverpool all season is playing brilliantly in midfield and getting the ball around the box but then just not doing anything with it. Apart from Gerrard's run on goal and Pennant's tame shots right at Dida I don't think Liverpool really had a shot on goal until Crouch (of all people) blasted one that Dida tipped over. And it was too late by then realistically speaking. |

I like how you don't even mention Dave O'Brien. Must've suppressed that memory. [/ QUOTE ] Whats absurd was that during the game, and at half time, I was like "who da [censored] are these fools (sans Wynalda). I know Tommy Smyth. He's done a few MLS games this season, but that crowd was a revelation to me. |

Re: Official Champions League Final Thread.
man zenden was SO bad this game. and in fact, while he stood out, liverpool as a team were just really mediocre... they kept starting good possessions only to fizzle out as they neared the box, or fizzle out in a poor attempt on goal. they never REALLY challenged the keeper. they played poorly. like, it's clear that they played poorly because milan's defense played remarkably bad, and liverpool still couldn't score until it didn't matter anymore.

Re: Official Champions League Final Thread.
dave o'brien/celo balboa are so bad that i'd rather have tommy smyth. the best team we've had broadcasting games on US TV has been JP Dellacamera and Seamus Malin. and yet we tend to ignore them... |

Re: Official Champions League Final Thread.
As much as I hate Liverpool, this picture tells a different story regarding the first goal. Looks like a combination of upper chest, shoulder, arm, and hand.

Re: Official Champions League Final Thread.
Also, lol @ the soccernet caption for this photo:
"ON THE 'ED SON Milan's Pippo Inzaghi claimed this goal wasn't a fluke. So scoring with your eyes closed while the ball hits your arm is a well practiced art... apparently." |

Re: Official Champions League Final Thread.
I thought the goal was obviously off his arm.
