This is pretty standard. And if you think he has 55-99 a lot then calling sucks since they will be scared off by so many turn cards. And no legit hand is raising here with the intention of folding to a push.

I think you played it fine. You have to put him on a pocket oair. The money is going in so you always want to make full use of all winning possibilities, calling now and calling AI on turn leaves you without folding equity. You don't mind him folding to your all in, even if it turend out you were ahead.
