yeah, the fact that he could vbet 78 here really made me feel like i had to call

obv he was vbetting 77

but i really dont want to just say "ah, its a cooler" and shove

i think it could be close, and c/f could be my best choice on the river.

id still like to hear more perspectives on it though

You have top two pair and none of the draws got there on the river. He can have plenty of combos of missed draws or worse two pair to bet the river, or he can have maybe a set of 7s or 8s that beats you. The way you played this, I think the decision is whether to call or raise the river.

when the draws miss it is usually a greenlight for aggressively valuebetting twopair against someone whose hand looks like either a strong one pair hand that is trying to get to showdown. throw in the times this is a bluff to move you off said one pair hand along with the times this is a worse twopair valuebetting and this is a call every time. sorry you are running bad :/

i like your line on the flop and love the turn (a 3bet on any street seems retarded)- i clearly call this river (esp in light of cts's post) good reg or not he seems over aggro and whiffed draws + worse 2p make this a solid call imo

In light of CTS's post, I think you played this hand very well vs this particular opponent, and I'm never folding this river......sucks he had 77, cooooooler.
