It's kind of cool I guess but it's really not a big deal. OP definitely has a point but I think the pros outweigh the cons as others have said. Almost everyone likes a little recognition for something they're really good at, nothing wrong with that as long as it's not your main focus or anything. Also wrt to things like staking for live events having a good reputation as an online player can actually be worth a lot of money to some people.

honestly rankings/tlb help a lot for non poker players to see it's more legit of a profession/hobby then not. You'd be amazed how much it effects them to see some list of best players by some formula.
