What are the benefits of the two ranking systems mentioned above, apart from knowing your MTTs performance.
Poker is a game of information. Any information gained or lost, either good or bad, is beneficial to you or your opponent? In this case, its beneficial to your opponent as people can check what tourneys you played recently and what did you "score"? I know there are other sites tracking players already, but this is different? Why? Because, one can check the performance of the same player on diferent sites. I mean, without this, I wouldnt know that "emptyseat88" on fulltilt and "88emptyseat" on stars for example is scott fischmann. Surely, too much information hurts one's hourly rate. You know what i mean? |

Alot of people play MTT's for the competition and glory. The rankings add to that.

I realise that, but future value is lost as the opponents gain information. Makes me wonder if its really worth it?

well its nothing compared to the infomation available on TV pros and pokerxfactor pros, and i dont think that has comprimised them at all
main reason is ego anyway. nice to be able to 'prove' to non poker playing people that you're top x in the world |

What information do opponents gain other than that you are good, or perhaps like me, just play alot?
The good online players already know who you are, and the casual donk will probably play even worse against you if he knows you are good. |

[/ QUOTE ] I think this is a really good point. I am sure some top ranked pros might manipulate with their opponent's preception of them. This could help their own game a lot. They know what an opponent might think of them. |

And I'm pretty sure when people think of you, it's not "Wow this guy is awesome I better stay away", it's probably more like "lol here comes the caveman again raising every hand". |
