15/30 vs 8/16 at Canterbury Park
I'm considering taking a shot at the 15/30 game. I've played in the 8/16 and 6/12 game for a few months now with decent results so I'd like to make the jump to red chips.
Any thoughts on the 15/30 game and how it compares to the 8/16? I've railbirded the 15/30 a few times and it seems to be fairly passive, a lot of open limping PF and a lot of chk-calling to the river. Not sure if this is typical or not though. |

Re: 15/30 vs 8/16 at Canterbury Park
I've played the 15/30 game 4 times. 3 times it was a weekend night and pots were huge, so I got on the table. I won a rack all three times by getting playing very tight and getting decent cards, hitting flops and getting more value than I could possibly imagine. It ran like the 8/16 does when there are at least 2 Asians at the table. The other time it was a bunch of old guys that were better than I thought. I lost $350 by being too aggro against calling stations.
Obviously my sample size completely sucks, but I'm trying to say that the game changes, just like the 8/16. What I've heard from grinders, and these are CP grinders so take this with a grain of salt, is that your winrate goes up only slightly when you play 15/30, and variance reduces. YMMV obviously. |

Re: 15/30 vs 8/16 at Canterbury Park
what is your play schedule? during the daytime it plays like a very difficult 6-12, during weekends and evenings it plays like a thinking 8-16.
i've played quite a bit of both 15-30 and 30-60 with success, but as i've reduced the time i have been able to get into the card room per week my win rate has significantly dropped off at 30-60 and somewhat at 15-30 whereas it has stayed the same at 8-16 and 6-12... basically what i mean is, you need to be sharp and mix up your game at the red and brown games in order to hold your edge - whereas the yellow chip games can be profitable just by playing good hands abc for the highest ev play during weekends and evenings - especially on race days or during ballgames, you will have higher variance but the play level will be greatly reduced good luck if you do move up |

Re: 15/30 vs 8/16 at Canterbury Park
yesterday someone in a blue chip game next to us at table 33 told everyone at his table that the 15/30 game is the tightest game in at the park.. we all had a good laugh at that. though now that i think about it.. maybe?

[/ QUOTE ] The 15 is more aggressive and tighter than the 8. There is alot less open limping and the best players are way better than the best at 8/16. That being said the game as a whole is rarely tough and there are fish aplenty. |

Re: 15/30 vs 8/16 at Canterbury Park
From what I have heard from people and from my experience I would classify the games this way;
6/12 - Loose/Passive 8/16 - Loose/Aggressive 15/30 - Tight/Aggressive Many guys I have chatted with have said they won't even play the 8/16 because it's soo loose and crazy. They have told me the 15/30 plays somewhat like the 6/12 but with less limping and cold calling. |
