Re: 5/10 1010 vs an \"obvious\" squeeze?
I don't think flat calling is really an option in this spot with all the players behind. Since we're 140bbs deep it makes the normally horrible 4-bet and fold to shove line quite tempting, since he will be turbo-mucking a fair bit of the time. Something like $475 should do the trick even with all the dead money in there. Not sure if its too transparent though, I might make it a bit larger just to make sure he isn't gonna 5-bet bluff...

folding when he shoves AK would be a disaster though, and I would say he will shove AK 100% of the time

Re: 5/10 1010 vs an \"obvious\" squeeze?
The fact that he's reraising against a UTG raiser makes this much less likely of a squeeze and more a value raise with AK/QQ+. With that said, I think a call is okay if you feel the guys behind you won't re-open the action. You only have to make $1275 on average to set-mine, and if everyone behind you calls there will already be $840 in the pot.

I think Handsome is spot on. None of the options are all too appealing but calling seems best imo. Either you get to play poker in position or you get to set mine with a lot of money in the pot.

you may be barely deep enough to set mine if you think the other peiple behind you will fold just cold call with your tens

Re: 5/10 1010 vs an \"obvious\" squeeze?
I think the hardest thing here is, since the BB is in such an obvious squeeze spot, the natural inclination is for the original PFR (esp. from UTG) to re-raise with most of their range, so when the BB actually has a hand (say AQ+ , TT+) he will feel compelled to shove it in since the majority of the time he has nothing in that spot, so he needs to push harder when he's at the top end of his range. So maybe we have to 4bet and call a shove, even though 5bet shoving AK would normally suck for 140bbs from the opponent's perspective, unless you yourself have been particularly active.
Giving a tight range of AKs/AKo,JJ+ in Pokerstove we have 36.5% equity if he shoves which makes 4betting and calling about right, so obviously if you think he's getting it in wider than that (and always shoves AK) then this line is fine. |

Re: 5/10 1010 vs an \"obvious\" squeeze?
Talk of set-mining is ridiculous here. I would probbaly fold, most people have a big hand here in my experience. If you think hes doing this light I would probably call and see what happens.

Re: 5/10 1010 vs an \"obvious\" squeeze?
I think turning TT into a setmining hand is a waste here since we very often have the best hand and yet we can't really continue with it postflop (especially if any of the cold callers tag along) with any confidence unless we flop a set.

Re: 5/10 1010 vs an \"obvious\" squeeze?
The talk of set mining is only occurring if people behind you also call. Obviously your playing poker if everyone else folds.
Folding doesn't seem too bad either but I wouldn't against a habitual squeezer. OP does he squeeze a lot or are you just saying this looks like an obvious spot to squeeze? If I haven't seen him squeeze before I lean much more towards folding. |
