ICM - i just dont get it

i have found alot here about what ICM is and what its good for

but i find it really hard to add this knowledge to my game

i want to be able to do it blindfolded, whats the best way to learn it?

Listen to Holy..really try to understand "ICM"..and the only way to do that is to review your games..using sngwiz or whatever..or..

And this is what I did..

Input hypothetical situations into sngwiz..and see what an ideal pushing range given what you think ur opponent my be pushing/calling with ..and see what the result is.

5-handed as the short stack UTG..(8BB or less)
As the small blind vs. a super big stack..who you are pretty certain will call with most anything..

vs. an UTG raise or even a limp..just make the effort to put them on a range. (i wouldn't worry so much about accuracy initially)..just put them on a range and then change their range and see how that effects the outcome..i think you'll see some very interesting things by doing this back and forth exercise..

I think that if ur not comfortable with ranges..giving urself a bigger min. edge might help to overcome that..but, initially i'm not sure that it wouldn't be better to just learn what it is that ICM is tellin you.

I don't find the quiz mode all that useful initially..

Also, i think i was in a similar spot not to long ago..and things really started to manifest themselves in my game when i made a conscious effort to put people on hands..I don't think i even did it that often before it became a natural thing to do while playing..

i would maybe 2-4 table and really make the effort (you'll see that pretty soon it sort of becomes natural) ..also, i started to mix in some cash games .which sort of forces you to put people on ranges more; i think.

Don't try to undestand it. SNGS are dying and your poker energy should be put elsewhere.

A beginning player would be better off LEARNING something besides sngs. Getting rich quick sounds better than having to ride out 7% roi in sngs.
