we have a gutshot and a backdoor flush draw... our overcards could be dominated.. just call the flop

Call the flop. You don't have enough equity to raise and nobody who caught any part of this will fold. Turn the T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

[ QUOTE ]
I don't want to hear any nonsense about raising for outs and free turns and all that kind of stuff.

[/ QUOTE ]

Just playing the devils advocate...

Right now, the pot contains 17sb. If all call, it'll be 10bb. Assuming dumb guy bets again and taggro guy calls again, we'll be getting 12:1 on the turn. Seeing that we most likely will be able to scrap together our 4 outs, (3 to the str8 and some little bit for the OC's), we'll be obliged to see the river in any case like always. Of course, some cards hurt our hand (like 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] or some such), there are others that profoundly help our hand, T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] most prominently. All in all, there are 15 cards that improve our hand (9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]'s, the 2 remaining K, Q, T non-diamond), some to a decent hand, some to a decent draw.

Seeing, that many of the remaining cards don't HURT us (they just don't help us; like 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] or so), there just might indeed be a case for raising.

Namely, for
- folding ace-high (of course, we don't fold AK/AQ, but we might fold A6)
- getting a free turn seeing that we'll have to call a turn bet anyway.

Of course, getting 3bet would suck, but in any free card play, that's just the risk you have to take.

I guess in actual play, I'd call as well, but I think there is a case for raising nonetheless...

turn to "tag" and say...whats your phone number? can I call call you?

yep. I call pre and call the flop. we are so gunna flop a K, amirite?

of course, as played we 3bet flop and werent capped so tag prob as 2 biggies or a med pair....so raising the flop might cause "check to the raiser" by pairs, flush and straight draws....if it is worth paying 1SB to see the turn is it therefore worth 2SB to see the river?

Response to Thread: I'm calling too but a raise is fine.

Response to Hijack: I'm still looking for a meeting to go to in Vegas in August...

Default the TURN

at game speed, i called in tempo. thinking about it later, i felt i should have given some consideration to raising. fret pretty much hit it: we have a lot of weakish draws that add up to a pretty decent hand.

anyway:

*PREFLOP*
Hero is button with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
1 limper, dumb guy limps, taggro guy RAISES, hero 3BETS, bb calls, limper calls, dumb guy calls, taggro calls.

*FLOP* (15 SB, 5 players)
J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

bb checks, limper checks, dumb guy BETS, taggro calls, hero calls, everyone calls.

*TURN* (10 BB, 5 players)
T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

bb checks, limper checks, dumb guy BETS, taggro calls, hero...?

i think this decision is pretty straight-forward, so i will only stop the action here for a little bit. this is also my "bump for the east coast people who actually have jobs and stuff" bump.

Esp. w/ the taggro call here, I think we have an easy raise.
