Sounds like he decided preflop that he was going to float you on this hand, regardless of what came. I think you may actually have the best hand here...

Yeah that was definitely the feeling I got. Of course he can still hit any random junk here, but at least I have some outs if I shove and get called.

These kind of guys really hate it when you play back at their obvious steals. It would be lovely if I could actually have a pair in these spots but lord knows that don't happen.

Anyway, I'm still very curious as to whether shoving is +EV here. I'm sure he would call with T9, he might fold a weak pair like if he has 33. (he will call with a Q or J, I assume).

I probably push this. I think his range includes tonnes of straight draws (no way he folds any gutshot+ to the flop bet), some random pp's, some jacks. I think Q's raise the flop a lot, probably flush draws do as well. I think you have the best hand quite a lot. You usually have 7-10 outs if he calls you, sometimes he'll even call you with a worse hand.

i really don't like c/f, he has like K9 heaps and bluffs you off it. crai would be sweet if we were a bit deeper.

Cuz of the smallness of the RR? I believe he's calling pretty much any RR why would I make it bigger?

delta_k mentioned earlier pushing preflop, which seems sort of silly but actually isn't a half bad idea. Alternatively, I could just make some oddly large RR like $40 or so and maybe he'd crazy shove over that.

I guess I could also just call preflop and just check-fold unless I hit. That's certainly lower variance against these nutter types that are hard to read.

I'd rather flatcall than make this reraise. You are just inflaming the pot vs a guy who is never folding and is going to play back at you on a lot of flops/turns. If hes as crazy as you say he is I like making it $35 or so and calling a shove obv.

I like a shove preflop a lot more than this reraise. In fact I almost like it better than a pot-sized raise against this opponent.

Not with a hand that misses 2/3 flops... I quite like shoving preflop as he will call with far worse.

so preflop is bad - not sure if anyone said that.

i would just like to let everyone know that you are allowed to check flops after rr pre.

Well maybe I'll try a shove preflop next time in a spot like this. It certainly eliminates the tough postflop decisions when I miss the flop, so that's nice.

I check-folded the turn, he showed 89o
