So, I'll admit I probably played this hand timidly and poorly, in part because I was paranoid about blowing my large stack, which was about 7% of my entire bankroll (I was planning on leaving after the next orbit). As this site is not supported by PokerTracker, I don't have any quantifiable reads, but the villain seems to be a successful, solid regular.
I was concerned about AA given the flop reraise, but figured reraising would just enable him to trap (and I think he's a smart enough player to do that). Further, if I was ahead (he had QQ/JJ/AK/other), I like smooth-calling with KK/AA anyways and under-representing the strength of my hand preflop. The flop check was a bit bizarre, and I probably should have check-raised the turn as played. A larger issue I'm interested in here is how to minimize damage against AA if I'm behind (if that's even possible), while maximizing damage if I'm ahead... Thanks for any and all feedback! When the hands get to this point, you can play this hand many different ways especially with your stack sizes. Your opponent often puts you to a hand like AcKx or AxKc when u call here on turn. If you raise, he still might think you are making a move.
Sometimes I just call here and check every river. Sometimes I just call and lead every non scary card and clubs Sometimes I raise here for value and valuebet pretty much every river. Its pretty difficult to screw this hand up with these lines. I like #2 and #3 and from these two im often taking line #3. |

The minraise here will often fold weaker hands, it's a clear signal of 'I like my cards, I'm not scared and I want to stack you'. Also the small amount often has the dual effect of being hard to resist calling from weaker players AND inducing a temporary sense of hopelessness in them that often means extracting a little more out of them on the river. I'm pretty sure this guy is behind you by a fair way.
