against an ace obv grim, he's betting pretty small, and like I said it'd take some sort of live read that I could push him off of it

[/ QUOTE ]

yeah this is my thinking also. when his turn bet goes out, it goes out with the knowledge that if you call, you almost never have an ace. then you get to face another awesome huge bet on the river because he is the only one in the hand who can have an ace. i guess you can have AK, but not many opponents will give you credit for floating AK on a flop like this. when he bets the river, shoving is so weird that i think AK and similar hands will be very very confused. you could also be ahead. he could also have TT which is what you hope to rep. tough spot...but i'm usually mucking on the turn like cts said but if i decide to continue i'm doing so as a bluff.

[/ QUOTE ]

james you and cts are obv awesome but i think vs a good player here turning our hand into a bluff when we have inherent bluff catching ability, and an opponent who is aggro enough to fire again, is the better plan.

i'd probably show as much weakness as possible and then either pussy out and fold or call twice. first time slow second time fast.

uhhh people are reading too much into kirk's table talk. 50% of the time villain either didnt hear him, didnt care, didnt read into it, or is listening to an ipod. ()

maybe so but i think stinky pete is right. if we're not sure how he's going to respond to it (or if he'll respond at all) then we're probably better off not saying anything correlated to our current hand.

the fact that it was mentioned leads me to believe that it might be noteworthy in this situation (perhaps villain gave a slight "i heard that" kind of a tell that means nothing more than acknowledgement at the time, but awareness and interpretation later in the hand).

yeah, no doubt this is true, but when you're having fun at a table (or even if you're sulking and mean at the table) people tend to say things. if kirk could go back im sure he wouldnt say anything but imo its a very small amount of info to relate to this hand, ala i think the correct play whether hero said anything or not is the same.

yeah, but if he's neverh eard this before, is he supposed to be like "oh man kirk has trash i can run a 3barrel bluff and run him off it, but if he didnt say anything, i wouldve folded my 85o like obv".

i dont think so!

well as soon as i read the original post my mind immediately went to "well what is the dude gonna make of that comment?". I think he'll put him on a pretty solid, but not fantastic hand, and I think that matters a lot in the hand as played. By the end the villain has a pretty good idea of where we stand, so its tough to decide if he's valuebetting or bluffing (his bet sizes make this particularly tough, and reflect well on his skills)

if ur gonna check call the flop, u need to check fold the turn ... personally, i either lead the flop for 2/3 pot and then shut down if called, or check fold the flop (depending on which young superstar it is)... I am way more inclined to check fold flop though... but i am a supernit, and never win

Hate the turn call unless you call river

There is no reason to call the turn and muck on a blank river. I'd make my decision on the turn whether this is where I'm good and c/c all the way, or if I'm beat and just muck it right there.
