but I really do not see the DirecTV as being that much cheaper of an alternative right now. [/ QUOTE ] yeah, without doing an apples-apples comparison, my impression is that the 2 services aren't that different in price, not enough, anyway, to sway my decision. I wouldn't get Direct T unless I moved away from home and needed Sunday Ticket. if I did move, I would get Direct TV, and it wouldn't be close. amazing how those 11 or so Sundays (16 - national games) carry so much weight |

my place in chicago has directv as a "free" part of our assessments. it's fine, however, i am not a dvr guy and when i had comcast a few years back i thought on demand was the greatest thing ever and I miss it.

I shudder when I pay $150 a month for HD cable and high speed Internet, but I really do not see the DirecTV as being that much cheaper of an alternative right now. [/ QUOTE ] I pay ~$90/month for DirecTv, which includes the HD package, HBO, and 3 DVR's. Before I got the HD package, I had HBO, Skinamax, Starz and Encore and was paying just over $100/month. Bottom line, I don't think DTV is any cheaper than cable, but the non-HD picture quality was way better than cable, and DTV offered Tivo-brand DVR's. Together, those were the tipping points for satellite over cable, for me anyway. -- TomE. |

Dear DirecTV, Please go back to a DVR manufacturer who knows what they're doing. Sincerely, Legions of DirecTiVo users [/ QUOTE ] Seriously... I can go make a sandwich in the time it takes me to hit a button and have that button actually doing what it's supposed to. The direct tivo was sooo much better. |
