Default TOP #15 - Slowplaying

Slowplaying is playing a hand weakly on one round of betting in order to suck people in for later bets. Typical slowplays are to check if there has been no bet or just call a bet rather than raise.

Requirements for Slowplaying

[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] You must have a very strong hand.
[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] The free card or cheap card you are allowing other players to get must have good possibilities of making them a second-best hand.
[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] The same free card must have little chance of giving someone a better hand than yours.
[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] You must be sure you'll drive other players out by showing aggression.

This is definitely not something I'm very good at. Probably because the opportunity to slowplay is so rare. Also, unless your opponent really has a hand, you aren't getting much money into the pot regardless.

This is only good, besides when you flop a monster boat ect., when you have opponents that bluff to much, or attack weakness a lot.

Right. If your opponents are more likely to bet out than to call your bet, slowplay. If they are more likely to call, you should bet out. This aspect seems more important in Hold'em than in Stud, because if the possible monster is visible, your opponent more likely goes into WA/WB mode and won't bet. In this case, three small bets usually get the most value.
