TT hand, way lost
I'm trying to learn short handed, and I'm not doing very well.
UTG+1 is 23/0/1 over 75 hands. Pokerroom 1/2 (6 people) Hero is UTG w/ T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Preflop: Hero raises, UTG+1 calls, 1 fold, Button calls, sb calls, BB folds Flop (9 SB): 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] sb checks, Hero Bets, All call. Turn (6.5 BB): 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] sb checks, Hero bets, UTG+1 raises, 2 folds, Hero calls River (10.5 BB): Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Hero checks, UTG+1 bets, Hero folds I felt lost the whole time. Anybody fold the turn? On the river, I guess I could have made a crying call, but even if he was semi-bluffing the turn, the fourth club came in and I couldn't imagine what I beat. |

Re: TT hand, way lost
You played this hand fine.
You really need to call the turn because your opponent could be semi-bluffing, or could have two pair, against which you have a ton of outs. On the river, some will come here claiming "Clarkmeister's Theorem" and tell you to bet the river, but I don't think this is a good spot for it. At 1/2, this guy is NOT folding a better hand like ever here, and you are not beating nearly enough to merit betting for value. Checking and folding is going to be correct. |

Re: TT hand, way lost
I like your line. Folding the turn is certainly an option against this guy who is fairly passive but w/o a specific read I usually call here. He may have just picked up a draw. Obviously fold the river.

nh, well played. I would've called down without the scary river. If he made a flush on you, so be it. Don't try and out guess yourself against these players. Make a strong hand, and take it to showdown most of the time betting and raising along the way. Paying off is simply part of the game, albeit a very frustrating part.
