Re: Best sites for SNGs
I think that's a very reasonable plan. Though you probably will want slightly more than 50x buyins as and when you reach the higher levels ($55 +).. that's just personal choice though.
Actually if you have to sometimes pick up the kids or whatever, you'd be better off playing the speeds at Party, as long as you can be sure of having 35-40 min spare, as not even the longest ones last that long (although, saying that, one of mine last night went to 1000/2000 blinds, and went on over 45 min!!) |

Re: Best sites for SNGs
Also, STTs are pretty good practice for final tables in MTTs, if the structure isn't superfast. Of course the 2-/3-/20-table SnGs probably resemble MTTs more than STTs.

The 2000 chips at Party are no different to the old structure where it started at 1000 either, because the blind levels have all doubled. So, that's just an optical illusion. [/ QUOTE ] You can't be serious? |

Re: Best sites for SNGs
Of course I'm serious.
In fact, it's actually got shallower, because there is no equivalent to 75/150 or 250/500 level, and also, the first level has BB equivalent of 20 rather than 15. The only thing that has changed is there are more hands played in the later stages at the normals (and occasionally at the speeds too, but not by much). You might get 2-3 more hands more in the first two levels of the normals too, but that's negligible. |

Re: Best sites for SNGs
The speeds are way faster than the old structure, well if you are talking about $55+ anyway.

Re: Best sites for SNGs
Well ok, yes, below $55 the new structure you get a few more chips to play with. The main difference though is the timed compared to # of hands, as I'm sure you know.

Re: Best sites for SNGs
If you haven't already give Holdempoker a shot.
for up to $54 stacks start at 1500 10/20 blinds of 8/10 min $108/$215/$320 stacks start at 1500/2000 with blinds of 10/12 min. up to $54 tables, fairly loose, I'd almost say easier than party(along w/ slightly lower fees ). 100+ i see a lot more regulars and are a bit tougher. |

Re: Best sites for SNGs
Ultimate Bet is OK. The structure allows for some deep stack early play, and the competition is not too tough.
I hadn't played there in a while, but I played 6 $11s last night, 3 turbos and 3 regulars. It took ~5 minutes for each one to fill the table (v. 15 seconds on Party and 1 minute on Stars). 2-3 people busted out quickly and then things settled down. If you end up 4 handed with 3 fairly tight players each with 20+ BB in the non-turbo tournaments, the end game lasts approximately forever. Also, I saw more minraises, minbets, and minreraises in those than I'm use to seeing at Stars or Party. Very small sample size, of course. Plus, I had some scotch, so it is possible my estimation of how long "forever" lasts could have been off by a bit. |
