Whether you agree with his opinion or not I don't think his constant insults and name-calling are appropriate for rational discussion.

Don't be so sensitive, bitch.

I'm reading through his wiki and some of the referenced articles. I like this guy.

EDIT: Please, please, please, let's find a way to keep this thread from getting moved to the politics and religion forum that I never go to.

Well, so far, so good. Everyone is like, "Yeah, he's funny and interesting," or, "I think that guy's out of line..."

As long as this air of civility remains, this thread has chance.

"What a question! Ha!", was awesome.

(EDIT: BTW, the first I ever heard of him was when he was flipping off Bill Maher's audience. That link is on YouTube somewhere. This guy rules.)

Always tune in Maher's show if Hitchens is scheduled to appear. I disagree with both of those guys with some frequency, but they are probably my two favorite political pundits (or whatever you want to call them).

Hitchens is aweseme. He once bought me a drink in the lobby at the Penn & Teller show at the Rio.

Here's his Slate column on Falwell: http://www.slate.com/id/2166337/

If you've only experienced Hitchens in spoken form, you're missing out. I would feel comfortable calling him the best political writer currently living, and that's not because I always agree with him. To write like him, I'd consider giving away digits or committing a crime.

He was awesome on Anderson Cooper 360. Went and bought the book.

Hitchens is awesome. I would vote for him if he ran for president. I pretty much agree with his views on Kissinger, Clinton, Iraq War, etc...

[/ QUOTE ]

Ditto. Love his take on Kissinger. This guy has balls.

He gets book reviews and articles published fairly frequently in The Atlantic magazine, btw. Another great reason to check that mag out. That's probably where I first became a fan of his.
