Bit of a tough spot, he's showing he has an 8. And he probably does. (Might have 4-4). I think the only thing you are beating here is an overpair and that would of been played differently PF from villain. you're only beating 8 with 7,6,5,3,2. I think after some thought you could lay this one down. I'm not one for laying hands down good hands at MSNL but this one I could.

There's no combination of cards on Earth that has me laying down trips with no chance of facing bets on future streets. Maybe if my kicker was the Theta of Plowshares or something, but even then it's close.

What can we put villain on that we have a chance of beating?

Maybe he has A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] but 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] is just as likely. I think 44 is more scary. Then again it's also very possible he has AA/KK, especially his bet sizing strongly indicates that he is a moron. I go broke here, unless you have a strong read.

Not much honestly, and if he had more stack I'd be scared, but an unknown in MSNL is not moving me off trips by giving me about 1:1 with as many as 4.5 outs IF we're behind.

As far as hands that play this way that we beat, a passively played overpair? Maybe an 8 with a weaker kicker (87, 86, something in there), or even a hand like A4? Obviously those get progressively more unlikely, but I wouldn't exactly mutter "oh my god" if I saw any of those.
