Did I play this bad? I had been very tight and saw other players play almost anything. he would have bet on the flop if I didnt. I think its ok. The river call? I felt that he didnt hit the straight. Trusting my instincts lol.

A check/call usually signals less than top pair, so maybe a 9 or an 8, or a straight draw in this situation since there are no flush draws. You checked the turn, which signals weakness on your part. I think you should come out betting on the turn to represent a Ten.

His bet on the river is a bet due to you checking the turn and the river being a 2, which couldn't have helped your hand unless you were holding 22, but you can't be holding 22 because 22 doesn't bet that flop.

So as played, fold the river because you are most likely behind. If you had JJ, this would be a call all day.

Edit: The more I look at it, I think this could be a set too. check/call the flop to show weakness. checks the turn in hopes that you bet. Bets the river for value because it's the only way he has a chance of getting more money out of you.

Fold the river twice.

Hmm, nice hand to you, but poorly played by him.

I guess if you say people are playing with a wide range it would make sense. The thing that worried me is that any 8 or 9 beats you, which is consistent with his line. I guess it goes to show that not everybody is a thinking player.

I think you need to continue betting at the turn. I think with a 10 he would be c/r'ing TP on a board with that texture. As played, I bet out ~7500 at the turn. If he calls, I check to induce his river bluff and call most bets.
