Re: Obesity vs. smoking: What\'s worse?
Smoking is far worse in general. But there are many different categories of "obese". Being moderately obese is barely bad for you. Being grotesquely obese is probably worse than anything short of drinking drano.

Same upsides as being a drinker, or any other drug user. [/ QUOTE ] I guess there are upsides to obesity then too. You get to eat a lot of delicious foods and watch a lot of high quality television. |

Re: Obesity vs. smoking: What\'s worse?
Being obese leads to a high mortality rate due to cardiovascular conditions, just like smoking leads to lung diseases and cancer.
But obesity probably makes your quality of life worse before you die in that you may look unattractive, have diabetes, be unathletic, not fit into rollercoaster seats etc. Smoking, you probalby just have smoker's cough, yellow teeth and less aerobic fitness. |

Re: Obesity vs. smoking: What\'s worse?
[ QUOTE ]
all obese people are of poor health while not all smokers are in bad health. [/ QUOTE ] That's not entirely true. EDIT to clarify: Studies have shown that an obese person that still gets out and is active regularly is often time more healthy than a person who is thin, but never exercises. |

The way you're wording it is the same as saying "having cancer has it's benifits because you can smoke". Obesity itself doesn't cause pleasure. |
