Situations to complete SB NLSNG
NLSNG, first blind level:
Do you ever just complete the SB or do you always raise or fold it? What if someone says "There is NO situation where it is right to limp"? |

NLSNG, first blind level: Do you ever just complete the SB or do you always raise or fold it? What if someone says "There is NO situation where it is right to limp"? [/ QUOTE ] No I limp alot, I'm not sure if other people fold something like bottom 10% or 20% of hands, but I just call alot, although when the blinds get bigger I think folding bottom 20% is probably the right play, but I'm sure someone better than me will tell you that. Sometimes if you raise too much, your opponent will reraise you with a wider range than he would have done which can give you problems. I don't raise more than 35% preflop usually. And also another reason for not raising too much is that you don't want to build a big pot with average cards which could be dominated, e.g. you raise with K6 and your opponent calls with KJ and you hit top pair, the bigger your raise preflop, the bigger the bets you will have to call down or make. |

Re: Situations to complete SB
It's incorrect to fold unless your opponent is raising your limp OFTEN. I hardly ever fold in this situation.

Re: Situations to complete SB NLSNG
I limp a lot more than most profitable players in the first two blind levels, from what I've seen. I think my ranges are something like 25% raise, 60% call, 15% fold against an opponent who essentially never raises out of the BB. These ranges of course change the more my opponent raises the BB, in which the call range drops and the raise and fold percents increase, though I do limp-call too much in these spots I think (leak?).
I like seeing flops HU, I think that's where my opponents tend to make a lot of mistakes, and I want to see more flops in order to allow my opponents to make these mistakes more often. |

Re: Situations to complete SB NLSNG
Obviously it depends on my opponent, but I generally limp almost anything that I don't raise. I'll fold here and there.
Like everyone else already mentioned, you just have to adjust to the player. If he never raise from the BB, I'm limping or raising every hand. If he starts raising my limps occasionally, I'll start folding the weaker hands a bit more. If he starts raising my limps with too much frequency, I'll start limping big hands and RRing. Etc, etc. |

Re: Situations to complete SB NLSNG
Limping is ok as long as your opponent is not raising your limps often. If your opponent raises aggressively many of your limps then you don't do that unless you want to limp/reraise. You profit from cheap flops if you think you have a postflop edge. Limping against a passive opponent is the cheapest way. Also, if my opponent is loose postflop I tend to limp more because I can't push him off the pot with weak hands that often. If my opponent is very tight I just raise almost every hand and limp very rarely.
