Re: If you were going to audition for WSOP next Tuesday don\'t bother
I stopped by the Rio this morning after work to talk with a friend, it appears they were auditioning dealers and there were a lot of them there (a quick glance and I only recognized few) Personally if I were running the auditions I would have sent home the 95% who didn't bother to wear black and whites.

In any event the main point of my post, was that despite the previous post indicating that auditions were over, it appears that they are continuing. |

[ QUOTE ]
I dress like crap normally, but for an audition I'll even iron my shirt. [/ QUOTE ] Iron? What's an Iron? I've always been the "if I'm wearing shoes I'm dressed up" sort. And being a computer nerd by trade, I've never had the pleasure of working anywhere with a dress code. Shorts and T's have always been (barely) acceptable work attire. If I knew there'd be a meeting with the boss' boss' boss on a particular day, I might switch to jeans and a shirt with a collar. But that means I place VERY little stock in the importance of what other folks wear. Now I do realize that dealers are customer-facing employees who have to be neat and tidy, so yeah they have a dress code. When they're facing customers. But in an interview/audition? Meh. Long as they put on the right duds before their first shift they're fine. Unrelated story time (I'm on a roll this morning). Staying in the BYU dorms for a computer conference one summer 20 years ago, or so... I wake up, walk over to the window and open the blinds. And there in the dorm across the way is a basketball or football camp kid ironing a shirt. IRONING?!?!? At summer camp? I was blown away. Mormons do tend to raise them good. Betcha junior even made his bed. |

That being said...this sounds like terrible advice. Why not look your best when showing up to any interview? In other words, you might not put much stock into clothing, but unless you're the one conducting the audition, it would be wise to stay on the safe side. |

I was once looking fo a dealing job in vegas in the summer. I had my neatly pressed shirt and pants and went to an audition. Then I walked across the street to another casino and asked for an audition and the manager told me I needed to iron my shirt if I wanted to get a job. I guess he didn't realize that a neatly pressed shirt can become wrinkled if you walk around in 110 degree weather. |
