Event Horizon [/ QUOTE ] That was a seriously messed up movie. I wouldn't say it was good, but it was effective. |

irreversible 56% [/ QUOTE ] That was a great movie, and most people who disagreed were likely turned off by the gratuitous violence. |

I didnt feel like the violence served any purpose except to make you uneasy, and it was pretty harsh. I only watch the last scene(first chronologically) for obvious reasons. |

[/ QUOTE ] This was one movie where gratuitous violence served a very clear purpose throughout the film. But you'd have to watch the whole thing to understand why. There are so many themes interwoven throughout the movie, including violence versus innocence, which is why the beginning is confused, jarring, uncomfortable and brutal, and the final scene is serene, fuzzy and gentle. And as far as the controversial rape scene - it was depicted so as not to sexualize rape and not to glorify it. It's a sick, disturbing scene, but it's unflinching and real. I'd rather witness real motivation and brutality than the sugar-coated [censored] violence that Hollywood loves so much. |

Vegas Vacation is beyond horrible. I was 9 and I knew it was horrible then. DH on the other hand is awesome. [/ QUOTE ] Ok so I know alot of people aren't chevy chase fans, but cmon, how has no one stood up for this movie? The casino scenes are awesome, "Changing five hundred!!" "how bout you give me half the money you're going to lose, we go out back, I kick you in the balls and we call it good." That and the classic games like pick a number and rock, paper, scissors. I mean seriously, who wouldn't play rock paper scissors if it was in table games? |
